Sometimes in your career, you reach a point where working harder doesn’t seem to move you forward.

You show up. You give everything you have. You learn more, take on more, solve more problems, support more people and yet somehow, you still find yourself standing in exactly the same place.

It feels like hitting a brick wall and the frustrating part is that sometimes you’re not being held back because you lack the knowledge or experience.

Sometimes you’re being held back because you have too much of it.
You become the person everyone relies on.
The person who knows the systems.
The person who knows the history.
The person who knows how to fix things when everything goes wrong.
And without even realising it, your greatest strength can become the very thing that keeps you standing still.

Because the organisation needs you exactly where you are. But eventually, you have to ask yourself a difficult question.

Am I staying here because this is where I belong or because this is where I have become useful?

There is a difference. Being valued is important. But being valued should never mean being trapped.

There comes a point where you have to recognise that a wall is not always something you are supposed to break through. Sometimes the wall is there to tell you that you have reached the end of that particular road. And the only way forward is to turn around, find another path, and start walking towards something bigger.

Leaving something familiar can be terrifying. You leave behind people you know, systems you understand, routines you have mastered and a version of yourself that feels safe.

But growth has never been about staying comfortable.

Sometimes progress requires you to walk into a room where nobody knows what you are capable of yet. And there is something incredibly powerful about that. Because suddenly you are no longer defined by what you have always done. You are defined by what you are capable of becoming.

You just need to take that leap, in this case i’m in a ball pit but you get the point!
